Beachy goodness

I don’t know why it has taken me so long to connect the dots, my love for the beach and photographing families. When I travel for sessions going to the beach is what I do, that is where my clients want to take me to capture their family. I just don’t know why I continued to only do this for clients in LA or FL? I know there are so many of you in Chicago, Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, who feel the same love for the coast as I do!  When I bring up beach sessions here everyone says they only do that when they are on vacation. I get it, who doesn’t love vacation photos, but then I started asking why? Why not here? The answer was really surprising to me. Or “you can’t get the same look and feel at the lake as I get on the ocean”.  WHAT?!? So I went out to prove that theory wrong with one amazing family who said, “Yes! That sounds amazing!” to my crazy idea.

I would love to know what you think! Yes or no to fun beach sessions in Chicago? If the answer is yes, shoot me a message, I would love to chat!  XOXO, Jen

I met Allison for a quick drink at Soho House Chicago to talk about her upcoming wedding, and more importantly, getting to know one another. We realized we both loved to travel and Morocco was at the top of our lists. We are both laid pretty back and our husbands (future husband for her) are very outgoing and a little goofy. We chatted about her wedding was going to be on the smaller scale, more intimate, and at a beautiful location, my absolute dream.

We started the engagement session at Josh’s restaurant in Chicago, Giant, which is insanely cool. It is such a huge part of who they are that it was only fitting to begin there. We moved over to the Art Institute of Chicago and, luckily, had almost the whole area to ourselves. It was an amazing morning and I cannot wait until their wedding this fall.
